Step by step

Button names come from the original guide (Shopify in French, Leadpages in English). In your account, buttons appear in your language.

  1. 1

    Choose a reviews app

In your Shopify admin, open the Shopify App Store and search « product reviews ». Check the free plan, other merchants' ratings and the « Built for Shopify » badge. Judge.me, for example, has a free plan with unlimited reviews.

  2. 2

Install it and set the language

Click « Install » and accept the permissions. In the app settings, choose the language of what customers see (form, emails, stars).

  3. 3

Show reviews on the product page

Go to « Online Store » > « Themes » and click « Customize ». Open a product template, click « Add block » and, under « Apps », choose the app's reviews block. Place it below the description, add the star rating block under the title too, then save.

  4. 4

Ask for a review after every order

Turn on the app's review request email, sent a few days after delivery. Give customers time to receive and use the product: 7 to 14 days depending on what you sell.

  5. 5

    Moderate and reply

Choose whether reviews go live right away or after you approve them. Reply to negative reviews calmly and with a fix: visitors mostly read your answer.

Common mistakes

  • Making up reviews or only showing the good ones: the FTC bans fake reviews and review suppression, and customers can tell.
  • Offering a discount only for a positive review: the reward must be the same whatever the rating, and disclosed.
  • Installing several reviews apps at once: they slow your store down and show stars twice.
