How to add a countdown timer to a Leadpages page?
A countdown reminds visitors that an offer ends: a sale, a closing signup, a webinar about to start. Leadpages has a ready-made « Countdown » element, no code needed.
The essentials in 30 seconds
- Open the page in the editor
- Add the « Countdown » element
- Choose the timer type
- Set the date, time and time zone
- Decide what happens at zero
- Adjust the style and test on mobile
Avoid: A fake countdown that restarts on every visit while the offer never ends: it's deceptive, and the FTC treats fake urgency as a deceptive practice.

Button names come from the original guide (Shopify in French, Leadpages in English). In your account, buttons appear in your language.
- 1
Open the page in the editor
In Leadpages, open the landing page and click « Edit ». Pick where the timer helps most: near the offer headline or right above the call-to-action button.
- 2
Add the « Countdown » element
From the editor's list of elements (widgets), drag « Countdown » to the chosen spot. A timer with days, hours, minutes and seconds appears on the page.
- 3
Choose the timer type
Click the timer to open its settings. « Standard » counts down to a fixed date and time, the same for everyone: ideal for a webinar or the end of a sale. « Evergreen » starts on each person's first visit (for example 2 days): useful for a welcome offer.
- 4
Set the date, time and time zone
For a « Standard » timer, enter the end date and time and check the time zone: being off by one hour is enough to upset visitors. For « Evergreen », enter the length in days, hours and minutes.
- 5
Decide what happens at zero
When the timer hits zero, it stops. Plan what comes next: update the page or redirect it to an « offer closed » page, and remove the offer button if it no longer applies.
- 6
Adjust the style and test on mobile
Change the colors so the timer stands out without overpowering the headline. Switch to mobile preview: on a small screen, the timer should fit on one line or wrap cleanly. Update the page.

Common mistakes
- A fake countdown that restarts on every visit while the offer never ends: it's deceptive, and the FTC treats fake urgency as a deceptive practice.
- Forgetting the time zone: the sale « ends » an hour early or late for some visitors.
- Leaving the page live after the end with the timer at zero and a button that still works.
