How to create an automated email sequence with systeme.io?

In systeme.io, an automated sequence is called a “campaign”: a series of emails sent in order, with a delay between each one. It is the ideal tool to welcome a new subscriber, then introduce your offer. The free plan allows 1 campaign (10 on Startup).

The essentials in 30 seconds

  1. Create the campaign
  2. Write the emails
  3. Set the delays
  4. Activate each email
  5. Add contacts automatically

Avoid: Adding an email at the start of a sequence that is already running: contacts past that step won't receive it.

Step by step

Menu and button names come from the official systeme.io Help Center in English.

  1. 1

    Create the campaign

Go to Emails, then Campaigns, and click Create. Enter a clear name (for example “Welcome – free guide”), a sender address that is already confirmed, and a description, then Save.

  2. 2

    Write the emails

Open the campaign and click Create for each email. A simple structure: day 0, the promised freebie; day 2, a useful tip; day 4, a story or a customer case; day 6, your offer.

  3. 3

    Set the delays

For each email, choose the email it follows and the delay after it, and if needed the time and days of sending. An email is only sent once all its conditions are met, so keep it simple.

  4. 4

    Activate each email

In the campaign list, click the three dots next to the email, then Activate. An email that isn't activated stays out of the sequence.

  5. 5

    Add contacts automatically

Create an automation rule with your opt-in page sign-up as the trigger and a subscribe-to-campaign action. When importing contacts (CSV), you can also choose a campaign.

Common mistakes

  • Adding an email at the start of a sequence that is already running: contacts past that step won't receive it.
  • Never re-reading the sequence: sign up yourself to receive each email like a real contact.
